Xbox Field Trips

challenge

For many years, gaming has been seen as a 'time drain' for children by parents. Unlike past times like sports, music and arts, it's perceived as lacking any real benefits.

However, recent studies have conclusively shown that games have the potential to support the development of soft-skills like communication, problem solving and analytical thinking in both children and adults alike.

That's why, in collaboration with McCann London, Xbox, Spotify and UKIE, we launched Xbox Field trips - a first-of-its-kind learning resource designed to re-frame some of Xbox's most popular gaming titles as learning opportunities.

Challenge
Each gaming title (8 in total) was the venue for a 30-45min 'learning journey', each with its own specific theme. From Creativity & Innovation with the iconic Minecraft, to Planning & Adaptability with Cities: Skylines, each field trip immersed the gamer in a number of challenges and narrative, thoughtfully designed by a panel of experts to nurture a different set of skills.

The Xbox Field Trips project was built in conjunction with a number of leading experts across disciplines such as child psychology, games narrative decide, innovative teaching and more to produce a science-backed suite of content available exclusively through Spotify in Mexico and the UK.
