EA Sports College Football was the stuff of legend. Until 2014, when itwas discontinued – breaking the hearts of 100s of thousands of fans.11 years later, the legend was set to return.But EA needed to capture the mood. And drive sales, with a retailpartner riding shotgun.We got it. This was big news. Football fans had grown up with it. Ithad been with them through their school days. This was nostalgia andrazzmatazz on an epic level.
Solution
We asked: What would you drop, for something you’d waited over a decade for?’
Idea loaded, we cast our star, cranked it up to 11, and squeezed a massive dose of FOMO into 30 fast-paced, fun-packed seconds. The campaign ran on Facebook and Snapchat and was splashed across TV screens in Target stores across the states.
Featuring a central character, in the midst of his now ‘mundane’ daily life, 11 years adrift from the fun-packed thrills of EA sports College Football. Awaiting the day it would return, we channelled the awaiting tension building up in fans across the country. A notification – it’s finally here.
Cut to a fully-fledged fast-moving action sequence as our protagonist leapt, skipped, bounded and weaved through town to re-unite with his old college friends and grab a hold of their own copy – bundled with the best console to play it on, an Xbox Series X of course.
